Two Mile Difference

Two miles does not sound like very far to drive. “It’s just down the road.” It can mean a 5 to 10 minute drive. But, it can be a striking difference in landscape.

First view of Half Dome and El Capitan on Highwwy 41 driving into Yosemite Valley.

The first view is impressive; but no match for the better known Tunnel View.

Although you can see Half Dome better the first time, you get a better understanding of the layout of Yosemite Valley from tunnel view. There is the slightest hint of the valley in the first view, but at Tunnel View it spreads out before you. You see the enormity of El Capitan for the first time.

I haven’t been traveling since waves hands wildly. The last trip we took was to Yosemite National Park. Not exactly a Day Trip, it was a trip. One of my favorite views in the part is the first time you get to see Half Dome when you enter from the south entrance to the park. 📷

Peace reminds me of the time in 2010 when I was lucky enough to see clouds sitting in Clouds Rest in Yosemite National Park. 📷

I’m 6 foot and 250 pounds and this tree makes me look like a kid.

I love the manzanita trees that grow around Central California. I only get to see them when I visit Yosemite

I am grateful that I am able to visit that beautiful place almost yearly.

Here’s a picture of a bud from my last trip.

My second favorite view of El Capitan. This is across the valley and you can see just how big this granite wall is.

Bridalveil Falls from across the valley.

It was nice to just park the car. Sit for a spell and enjoy the sound of the river while watching the waterfall.

One of my favorite photos that I’ve taken this week in Yosemite.

Yosemite Valley is beautiful; especially from Glacier Point looking down.

The Merced river snakes through the valley.

There are dramatic views all through Yosemite National Park. At Tunnel View you see El Capitan on the left, Half Dome peaking out, and Bridalvail Fails on the right.

At Cloud’s Rest you get a completely different view of Half Dome.

The entrance to Yosemite Valley is one of my favorite landscapes.

I have been in Yosemite this week. We were able to go to Sunday morning brunch at the Ahwahnee Hotel and spend some time in the valley after. I took this photo of the chapel and with some light editing think it looks fantastic.
