Today is a Save Draft type of day for me here on micro.blog.
I really need to quit reading The Pen Addict.
My new mantra for the rest of the year:
I do not need another notebook.
I do not need another pen.
I do not need another notebook.
I do not need another pen.
Let’s be honest though. I won’t quit reading The Pen Addict. I will keep wanting new notebooks and pens to try.
I’ve had the same Goals for a couple of years. They normally start out as New Year’s Resolutions and then kind of fade into the background of my mind. They tend to sit there and pop up, saying “Oh, yeah I wanted to work on that this year”. I have tried to use a Bullet Journal to keep track of tasks and goals and to do’s and projects and thoughts. I have tried to use Evernote as a Getting Things Done filing system. I have tried to do list apps and web services. I have yet to find one that works for me. I will keep trying. But, the issue might be that I don’t have any will to start my momentum going.
Pretty much sums up everything. Nothing is perfect.
Just Do It.
And here comes Seth Godin with another angle
If failure is not an option, then, most of the time, neither is success.
If I’m trying to find a way to be productive that is
a proven, verified, approved, deniable answer that will get them an A on the test
way to Get Things Done then I’m jamming myself into a box I might not fit.
My Problem is Always the Same. Starting.
Question for all the productivity gurus out there:
How do you know what is the right thing to do?
As Nicholas Bates says
stop and think. And don’t just do things. Do the right things. Set your compass.
How do you set your compass when you’re not positive of your direction?
No Doubt’s Sunday Morning just came on YouTube and, let me tell you, I’d be here for a No Doubt reunion that sounds a like their Tragic Kingdom album.
Pretty sure this is confirmation that the NRA cares more about gun manufactures than gun owners in their lobbying efforts.
NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre spoke with Trump on Tuesday after the president expressed support for a background check bill and told him it would not be popular among Trump’s supporters
Buuuut, that does not line up with how actual NRA members view background checks. According to Politifact 79 to 80% of NRA members support background checks.
Don't Wait for the President
The quote in this linked article is just mind boggling to me.
Republicans would support an assualt rifle ban, banning high capacity magazines, and stricter background checks ……… only if Trump strongly supports them.
The president tends to pop his head up, support something and then retreat.
If you’re relying on an unreliable leader to provide leadership then you are wasting everyone’s time.
The beauty of a democracy is that you do not have to wait for a leader to make a decision.
Congress should pass legislation for new gun restrictions and pressure the White House to support their ideas instead of waiting for the White House.
Content. Content. Content.
Everyone wants to produce content.
Police Accountability
I really need to unsubscribe from this guy because his takes are close to the target but still way off target.
We shouldn’t be criticizing police for working the right way, but rather for encouraging that sort of procedure even when the suspect is brown or black.
That is what we are talking about. The police do not do the same thing for POC that they do for white people and encouraging them to do the same thing is literally the very least that can be done.
We should hold the police accountable every time they kill a person of color in a situation that is less dangerous than a mass shooting.
You know, like sitting in their living room in their own house, and getting shot and killed by a police officer who forgot what apartment they lived in.
Today in Headlines that I find odd from Engadget comes Audi’s E-Tron scooter is a skateboard with a handle.
As far as I know; aren’t all scooters skateboards with handles?
Who thought Gordon Ramsey should take over for Anthony Bourdain?
Yes. This makes perfect sense.

This guy doesn’t know what the term “progressives” means because the only people who
ask, “Where’s the money?” and “How will you pay for it?” when talk of health care for all or free college is mentioned
are conservatives.
Green New Deal
This guy thinks what the
centrists and “progressives” don’t understand about the Green New Deal is that stuff is all going to happen anyway.
We support the Green New Deal so it doesn’t
occur extremely destructively and in a totally-unplanned way.
I watched two videos about Nirvana this morning and I know that today will be a 90’s alternative rock music day for me and it is long overdue.
