One of the things I’ve always wondered:

Do other local news stations (outside of the US) love high speed pursuits as much as US local news stations?

Here’s some words of advice from FH

DOING THINGS CHANGES THINGS. DOING NOTHING LEAVES THINGS EXACTLY THE WAY THEY WERE.

Just going to think about that today.

Sourdough French Toast is a thing I made for dinner tonight. And it was good.

Holy moly this update to @Dialogue is awesome looking!

Live is not a Rom Com

My one niggle with this move from iPhone to Android post by Fraser Speirs is about the fingerprint sensor

The placement of the fingerprint sensor on the back is weird to an iPhone user but it works OK - although it’s much less forgiving than Touch ID ever was.

That is not the case I’ve seen. My Pixel 2 unlocks with my fingerprint more often and faster than Touch ID on my iPhone 6S. I only have to enter my passcode after a restart on my Pixel 2. On the iPhone is multiple times a day.

Maybe there’s something to this zodiac sign after all?

According to Domino as a Libra I should start my day with a puzzle and not my RSS feed.

Save the social media indulgence for those much-needed breaks at work and wake your brain up another way. Put on some tunes and pair your morning coffee with a crossword or sudoku puzzle.

Maybe I’ll try this in the coming weeks. Pair the music and puzzle with an episode of Battlestar Galatica or Orphan Black while on the tradmill afterwards.

Today’s quote on FH is spot on

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEAT AN IGNORANT MAN IN AN ARGUMENT.

Never forget that sometimes it is best to walk away.

I find so ,cu delightful art by following Colossal and SwissMiss and Jason Kottke in Newsblur.

What other websites help you find things you would normally miss?

No you’re eating popcorn out of a giant tin,

No. I do not need a new fountain pen.

I can’t believe that they made an Angry Birds movie.

I’m thinking that next week I’ll start to walk on the treadmill while doing a rewatch of Battlestar Galatica and restrting Orphan Black thanks to @macgenie for reminding me of these excellent shows.

This is a fantastic photo of the Grand Canyon covered with snow from The Atlantic’s Alan Taylor.

Today’s Inverted Aeropress coffee.

3 Tbsp fine grind Guatemala Pueblo Nuevo Vinas Santa Ana

Brew Time: 2 min 13 sec

I’ve been listening to the Interstellar soundtrack a lot this past week and now I need to sit down and watch the movie again.

The Never Ending Pursuit

Shawn Blanc nails New Years Resolutions on the head with this idea

The compounding impact of small routines done regularly is so much more powerful than that one giant event.

This is one thing I am trying to do this year; make small habit changes stick to get bigger results.

The process will be slow and that is what scares me the most. The time it will take to show the results of the changes I want to make. I know that if I don’t see results relatively soon then I will be more likely to give up. And that is something I need to work on as well.

I guess personal development is a never ending pursuit.

Quick question about Dialog @Mike_fm - well actually two.

Do you have plans to move the new post button on to the main feed page instead of the about page?

Do you have plans to be able to access the camera app to post photos?

I really need to figure out where/how/when I will journal if I want to continue to actually journal on a daily basis. Is it going to be a digital one in an app? Or a physical notebook? There are just too many options out there and it will take some time to whittle them down to what actually works for me.

New Year: New Project

I use Evernote with Postach.io to power my own blog (outside of micro.blog) and it has fallen down a few too many times for me this past year.

This year’s project is going to be building a simple blog hosted somewhere (haven’t decided yet, leaning towards AWS) that will allow for easy cross-platform blogging (Chrome OS, Android, and Windows)

First step to the Google to find some simple static generators that are easy to set up and use.

Right now I know of Hugo and Jekyll. I’m sure I’ll find more.
