This morning is a Taylor Swift music video marathon and mainlining coffee type of morning.
Today’s waking political thought was: I wonder if someone has put together a list of Obama regulations that Trump has rescinded and what the effects of that have been.
Product Promotion
I just saw a Verge YouTube video that ended with the commentator complaining that Microsoft was promoting Edge, Biong, and Cortana too much in Windows. I have one question: What else do you expect them to promote in their software?
Should Microsoft be promoting competing products in Windows? “Hey, we make this browser, Edge, but you should go download Firefox instead.” or “Everybody searches the web but, you shouldn’t use Bing: you should use AskJeeves.” or “Our voice assisstant Cortana is really good but, Alexa is different so use that instead.”
Seriously? Do you expect any company to not promote their own products over other companies products?
This Is My Procrastination Life
Past Self thinks that Future Self will want to accomplish stuff so makes plans to Get Things Done but Present Self doesn’t want to do anything so makes plans for Future Self to Get Things Done.
As a consequence things hardly ever get done, just passed down the line. Past Self feels good for scheduling Things, Future Self thinks ‘Today will be the day", and Present Self just feels lazy all the time.
I need more coffee.
I am fascinated by the saga of the AirPower mat and how all of the Apple pundits are upset that it will be longer than a year since it was introduced and it hasn’t shipped yet.
They are mad that Apple told them about an accessory that hasn’t shipped.
I always forget how beautiful Yosemite National Park is and then I scroll through my photos and remember the grandeur that is there. It is an amazing place to visit.
Random Reminder:
Be polite to people. Not everyone as the same fears as you do. You never know what someone else is really struggling with.
AI is Not a CommunityManagement Strategy by Derek Powazek is really good. The idea of changing AI to recipe is genius. Of course the commonsense thought that AI won’t save your community is something that many people don’t realize.

Chocolate lava cake topped with chocolate peanut butter ice cream that is drizzled with chocolate sauce.
Pretty good dessert!
I’ll watch pretty much anything with Tom Hardy or Keanu Reeves in it.
I just made a second lattee this evening. I might have a problem. I think I just like lattes. I’ll allow it though.
So. I might be just a little slow.
I’m taking a trip to India in July. Super excited to go. Have been planning it for a year now. Today. Today. As I type this I realized that I get to eat authentic Indian food in India. mind blown
So, yeah, I might be a little slow.
I think I’ll watch some Parts Unknown tonight after work. I remember not liking the show when it was on TV but, maybe it’s better now that I’m older. I hope it’s streaming somewhere.
My yard is a mess. Not rrally sure what to do to fix it.
Today in Pixel leaks: There’s a notch!
I’m not about to read the articles to see people writing about Google copying Apple or whatever other nonsense is being bandied about.
Is it possible to make too many random references to Star Wars?
Has there always been a “Get off my lawn” feeling from the ‘older’ tech writers? This scooter article from Daring Fireball is a good example.
We didn’t want to like these scooters but we do.
It just sounds like a ‘kids these days’ story to me.
In movies and on TV shows when the police are unsure if there is a hostage situation, they send in someone to confirm before storming the location with SWAT.
In real life, police just roll up and start shooting before determing if there is a reason to. This shoot first & ask questions later policy is appalingly stupid.
